A capped international with his native Turkey, the 23-year-old arrived from Süper Lig title holders Galatasaray, where he has spent the majority of his career after coming through the ranks at the Istanbul giants.

Born in Küçükçekmece, Akgün joined his boyhood club in 2011, making his senior bow seven years later, having appeared for both the Under-19s and Under-21s.

That maiden first team appearance in the 2018 Turkish Super Cup fixture was followed, five months later, by scoring a hat-trick during a Turkish Cup victory. His first Süper Lig goal, meanwhile, arrived in July 2020.

That impact led to two loan spells at Adana Demirspor, with further showings of his potential across 70 matches, contributing 16 goals and 20 assists to help steer the Adana club to promotion into the Turkish top-flight - and a ninth place finish in Süper Lig at the end of 2021/22.

Back at Galatasaray in 2022/23, The Lions claimed the league trophy for the first time since 2019. Akgun had played a minor role back then, but was much more prominent, playing 25 times.

With additional UEFA Champions League experience on the attacker’s CV, Akgün bolstered City’s attacking options for what would be a successful Championship promotion charge.

Yunus' first appearance for the Club came in a Carabao Cup win at Tranmere Rovers, with his early performances offering promise to the Blue Army. Hitting the ground running as a Foxes player wasn't going to be easy given the competition for places in attacking positions, but once the Turkey international found his feet, his quality was there for all to see.

A first goal involvement arrived during victory at Blackburn Rovers in October, providing an assist, before a maiden goal of his own in the home win over Swansea City. Both crucial in the league campaign, his stunner against Birmingham City on Filbert Way three days earlier had assured progression into the fifth round the Emirates FA Cup.

Yunus' most important contribution was saved for the league fixture against Blues, sending in the cross that Stephy Mavididi headed home to earn three points in the dying minutes of that April encounter, keeping Leicester on course for automatic promotion, which was sealed later that month.

With nine international caps to his name, including a senior debut against Faroe Islands in June 2022, the attacker's goal in a 4-0 win over Latvia in October 2023 formed part of a successful UEFA EURO 2024 qualifying campaign which will see Turkey compete in Germany this summer.
