It’s been a successful season for the LCFC Women’s U21 Academy, having obtained their Tier 1 Pro Game status last summer, with a second-placed finish in the PGA League Under-21 North Division and two cup finals.

At the heart of it all is Bell, who has scored four goals this season from defence and worn the armband on several occasions. After she collected her award from the main stage, she summarised her emotions on being selected by her coaching staff.

“It feels really good,” the defender opened with. “I didn’t quite expect it, but you’ve got to back yourself all the way, so it feels good to win the award.

Kiera Bell was among the award winners on Tuesday evening.

“I was a bit scared when walking up to the stage in front of such big names in that room, but it was a nice feeling to be appreciated for what I’ve done this season.”

City also came close to winning their league division but were pipped at the final hurdle by Manchester United, following a recent 3-3 draw with the Red Devils at Belvoir Drive.

Despite not having the chance to face Arsenal for the shot of outright champions, the young defender was proud of her team-mates to turn things around so quickly and win the PGA Plate Final against Charlton.

It’s been a really good season overall. We’ve all worked really hard, and we’ve put in 100 per cent effort all the time.

“It was a bit of a disappointment with the last game of the season (against Manchester United) but sometimes football is high and low,” Bell continued. “The important thing is we bounced back at the weekend and won the Plate Final.

“Three for three is the aim now because we have the County Cup Final (against Anstey Nomads) coming up as well so that would be the perfect way to end the season.

“It’s been a really good season overall. We’ve all worked really hard, and we’ve put in 100 per cent effort all the time. As I said, it’s disappointing to not get the league win but to get into two finals is really good so I’m very happy.”
